Which Article abolishes Untouchability?
Article 17 of the Constitution of India abolishes untouchability and forbids its practice in any form.
Article 17 of the Indian Constitution abolishes Untouchability. It states that “Untouchability is abolished and its practice in any form is forbidden.” The enforcement of any disability arising out of Untouchability is made an offense punishable under the law. This Article forms part of the Fundamental Rights under Part III of the Constitution and serves as a constitutional safeguard to eradicate caste-based discrimination and promote social equality in India.
