India has 25 High Courts, each exercising jurisdiction over one or more States and Union Territories under the Constitution of India. Every High Court serves as the highest judicial authority within its territorial jurisdiction, subject to the appellate jurisdiction of the Supreme Court of India. Several High Courts also have permanent benches to improve access to justice in different regions.
